Hello, I'm Masaru Ishizaka, a fragrance producer.
Have you ever heard of the word "mindfulness"?
The term has been gaining a lot of attention in recent years as people have become more conscious of spiritual wealth rather than material, financial prosperity.
Mindfulness literally means mental well-being.
So, at what moment does this sense of spiritual fulfillment come?
This time, I would like to think together about the meaning of the word "mindfulness."
Mindfulness for me is simple.
I believe that the source of mindfulness is gratitude.
Our material desires as humans tend to know no bounds.
While this can provide motivation for growth and development, it can also lead to a feeling of "always being dissatisfied."
The key is balance.
It's about finding the balance between motivation and satisfaction with your current situation.
I believe this balanced state is the state in which mindfulness has been achieved.
I believe what makes this possible is to "be grateful for the current situation" and "respect yourself for being where you are."
However, many of you reading this blog may be feeling that, "That's easy to say, but difficult to do."
One way I would recommend doing this is to get in touch with nature.
Being surrounded by beautiful, majestic nature makes us feel at ease.
And when we face the fearsome wrath of nature, we are thankful for a place that shelters us from the elements every day.
Nature is something that forces us to recognize our own smallness and the miracle of our existence right here, without question.
Therefore, I believe that being in nature makes it easier to develop a humble attitude and be grateful for each moment.
For me personally, I incorporate this feeling into my daily life through surfing, which is my life's work.
We are part of nature and need to be in constant harmony with it.
This way of thinking allows us to distance ourselves from the materialistic world of thought.
This way of thinking is deeply rooted in traditional Japanese culture, and many classic Japanese poems express gratitude and respect for nature, so I think you can easily incorporate it into your life.
By feeling our own smallness through nature, we can appreciate the everyday
