Interview with a Senior Employee | Ebisu Main Store Manager | MANAMI MORI

SCENTNATIONS Inc. When I left my previous job, I started looking for a new one because I wanted to "make my passion my job." Every morning, when I come to work, I put fragrance on the blotters as part of the opening routine, and that moment is pure bliss. I used to come to work feeling excited every day. What I first felt after joining was "the amazing feat of a Japanese brand continuing for over 10 years." Due to family circumstances, I thought it would be difficult to advance my career. Beyond customer service, the relationships among staff are definitely rewarding. I feel a sense of growth when customers tell me "thank you" or "you really are a professional." I also value finding the perfect scent for each customer together. To ensure customers have a pleasant time, I always try to provide the kind of service I would appreciate receiving myself. I believe my strength is my ability to empathize with customers more than anyone else. I'm still not used to approaching customers, so I get a little nervous. Since becoming the store manager at the Ebisu main store, I've been able to sell 5-liter diffusers every month. First, as store manager, I aim to diligently manage the store and create an environment that consistently increases sales. My goal is to carefully and perfectly execute each task I'm currently assigned.
SHOLAYERED Ebisu Flagship Store Manager
MANAMI MORILength of service: 2 years / Date of joining: October 2023"This is the place that made me realize I can take on challenges."
I've always loved perfumes and fragrances, and I was looking for various brands when one day, I happened to pass by a store nearby and a very pleasant scent wafted out.
Drawn in, I looked inside and fell in love with the sophisticated atmosphere and the world of fragrance at first sight.
Immediately after, I researched the concept and products on the official website, found a job opening, strongly felt "I want to work here," and applied.
Every scent is subtly elegant, and I experience the charm of being able to "layer and enjoy" them every day, just as the concept describes.
Also, it's a workplace where staff members care for each other, and I've been helped many times by colleagues who quickly notice changes in my physical condition or mood and reach out.
But when I was asked by the head office to "take on the role of store manager at the flagship store," I realized, "I can take on challenges too."
That experience has become a major driving force supporting who I am today.
Not only with colleagues in the same store, but there's also an atmosphere where I can easily consult with staff from other stores, and I feel a sense of unity as we all support the brand.
This connection across store boundaries also contributes to my daily motivation.
At first, I was overwhelmed with just handling immediate customer service, but now I've gained the trust of customers, and there are more moments where I can move their hearts through fragrance.
Every single one of those words encourages me.
I pay close attention to changes in their expressions and subtle gestures when trying out scents, and I strive to offer suggestions that empathize with their feelings.
The moment they smile and say, "This scent is perfect for me," is the most rewarding.

For example, there was a time when I was impressed by a staff member at a new store who noticed I was hesitant and spoke to me without me having to say anything.
Through such experiences, I've come to believe that true customer service involves "understanding unspoken customer feelings."
I strive to apply both the "good things" and the "things I felt were a little off" from my daily experiences to my own customer service.
Through careful listening, I make it a priority to suggest scents that truly resonate with each individual.
I also have confidence in my observational skills, which allow me to understand a customer's "likes" from their eye movements and subtle reactions.
I value moments of connection through fragrance and strive to offer personalized recommendations for everyone.
However, it often leads to new customer encounters, so I want to gradually build my confidence.
I believe this is a result of carefully listening to each customer's lifestyle and proposing the most suitable fragrance.
Seeing my suggestions translate into concrete results has given me a great deal of confidence.
At the same time, I want to focus on training to support the growth of each staff member.
And in the future, I want to be a "reliable and cool store manager" that the team trusts.
Through this accumulation, I want to gain trust and grow so that I can take on new challenges in the next step.
