Bring out the best in your perfume! A guide to choosing perfume based on duration and scent type

Have you ever had trouble choosing a perfume? Here is a quick introduction to the different scents, their duration, and their respective characteristics.

This time, we'll be talking about different types of perfume and how long they last.

First of all, there are four types of perfume, in order of strength of scent: Parfum, Eau de Parfum, Eau de Toillete, and Eau de Cologne.

Parfum is the strongest fragrance, lasting for 8 to 10 hours, then eau de parfum fades after 2 hours, and eau de toilette fades after another 2 hours. However, it also depends on where you apply it, so if you want to enjoy the scent for a long time, I think it's best to apply it in a place hidden by clothing.

The types of fragrances are expressed by what is called the scent tone, such as fruity, citrus, floral, fougere, green, woody, etc. These scent tones are often used in combination, such as "fruity floral" or "citrus green."

In Japan, I think citrus, fruity, and floral scents are generally easy to use.
However, floral scents can easily become very heavy, so I think the image of floral = light is a bit off.

Lastly, a word about the expiration date of perfume.

In fact, perfumes do not generally have expiration dates. In Japan, they are not even legally set.

So what about overseas? Laws vary from country to country, so it's difficult to generalize, but some countries have a rule that the item must be returned within one year of manufacture.

As a general rule, our company aims to sell products within a year.

I hope the above information will be helpful when choosing a perfume.
